11/264 Guardroom, Lucknow Barracks

Guardroom of Infantry barracks, 1904-5, set at entrance to main
square. English bond brickwork with slate roof. Whitewashed to
ground floor. Single storey and attic, 5 bays, with single storey
wing of 4 bays to west. Open iron verandah runs along front for
full length, with moulded iron columns and lead roof. Paned
windows to upper floor, closer spaced over entrance. Single
storey rear wing. An important element in a group of relatively
unaltered Edwardian military buildings laid out on a formal plan
and built in a style characteristic of the British army in its
