Includes former Methodist Chapel to rear. C18, with mid to late C19 frontage
in ashlar. 2 storeys plus attics. Moulded stringcourse over ground-floor.
Moulded cornice and low parapet. Modern pantiled mansard roof with 2
hipped dormers, wood-framed casements with glazing bars. 4 windows on
first floor. Sashes in chamfered reveals, no glazing bars. Ground-floor
has arcade of 3 semi- circular arches on pilasters and with keystones,
the right-hand arch having double doors leading to a side passage. Wooden
doors of 2 panels each, with semi-circular fanlight over. The remaining
arches enclose fixed-light plate-glass windows. To the left of the frontage
is a square-headed doorway with moulded architrave surround and flat moulded
cornice on stone brackets. Oblong fanlight and half-glazed door. Up the
passageway, to the right of the house, is a long elevation facing south.
This belongs to the former Methodist Chapel founded about 1756. 3 storeys
reducing to 2 up the hill. Coursed rubble with three hipped pantiled roofs.
Mixture of casement and sash windows. 1 venetian window, on North side
to rear, with ashlar surround, keystone to central light and thick fixed
glazing bars. Inside is an C18 staircase, leading to the former chapel,
with plain turned balusters and ramped handrail Gallery inside the former
chapel is supported by plain piers with chamfered corners. Dentil frieze
on gallery front. Doric columns rise from the gallery to ceiling. Balustrades
between columns. Square panels of wrought-iron scrollwork with wooden
handrails. The chapel has close associations with John Wesley.

Nos 5 to 8 (consec) and Boundary wall at Priory Lodge form a group with
Nos 10 to 35 (consec) and elevated pavement in front of No 21.
