Manor house and attached cottage. Late C17, reroofed early C19,
cottage c.1860. Limestone ashlar, rubble stone to cottage, Welsh
slate hipped roof, gable end ashlar stacks with moulded cappings.
Two-storey, 5-window front; cross windows. Central 6-panelled
door in stone chamfered case with side lights, to left and right
are two ovolo-moulded cross windows. String course to first floor;
five cross windows. Deep eaves to hipped roof. Service range to
left has two 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements to
ground floor. Left return has 3-light casement and blocked window
to ground floor, first floor has one 3-light recessed chamfered
mullioned casement with dripstone, C19 porch with planked door
conceals chamfered doorcase and single ovolo-moulded casement, on
former exterior wall. Right return has two C20 French windows to
ground floor. Rear has two projecting wings flanking narrow
courtyard, filled by 1930s extension, basement to right hand wing
has two 2-light mullioned windows, ground floor has two 2-light
recessed chamfered mullioned windows, first floor has string course
and two 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements. Range to right has 2-
light ovolo-mullioned casement to first floor. Left hand wing has
two cross windows to ground floor, two 12-pane sashes to first
floor, hipped roofs to both wings, ovolo-moulded doorway to centre
concealed within 1930s extension.
Interior has deeply chamfered beams and planked doors to service
range. Main building has chamfered beams with runout stops,
blocked open fireplaces to ground floor with C20 bolection-moulded
fireplaces. C20 reset stairs retain late C17 turned balusters to
landing. First floor south bedrooms have corner bolection-moulded
fireplace surrounds with semi-circular brick backs, north bedroom
has stone Tudor-arched fireplace, good C17 panelled doors and some
reset C17 panelling and doors with cock's head hinges. C19 cottage
attached to left of front has 4-panelled door with transom light
and gabled canopy on wooden brackets, 4-pane sash to left in
segmental headed stone case with vermiculated keystone and imposts.
First floor has two similar sashes. Returns and rear have plainer
sashes.
