GV II

Inn. C17, rebuilt mid C18. Rubble stone, hipped tiled roof, brick
stacks. Three storey, 5-windowed; casements. Central 6-panelled
door in stone architrave with flat stone hood on carved brackets,
two 2-light beaded mullioned casements either side. First floor
has plat band, five 2-light mullioned casements, the side windows
are slightly higher. Second floor has three 2-light beaded
mullioned casements to centre. Left return has two C20 fixed
windows and glazed door, plat band to first floor with 2-light
mullioned window and 2-light casement, 2-light mullioned window to
second floor. Right return has blocked 2-light mullioned window to
cellar and a shuttered cellar entry to right, ground floor has two
12-pane sashes in beaded architraves, first floor has two 2-light
mullioned casements, second floor has one. Rear has French
windows, five mullioned windows to first floor as to front and two
to second floor.
Interior has 6-panelled doors and deeply chamfered beam to central
entrance hall. Attached to left is single storey rubble stone
extension with C20 casements, now kitchens. The centre 3 bays are
probably C17, with end bays added C18 at same time as
refenestration. Occupies prominent position on village green, near
Horningsham Lodge (q.v.) to Longleat House (q.v.).
