Part in Selwood CP, Somerset. Cottage orne. 1803 by Jeffry
Wyatville for 2nd Marquess of Bath. Coursed rubble stone, hipped
thatched roof, pair of diagonally set ashlar stacks. Cross plan,
two of the arms are three-sided. Single storey and attic, 2-
windowed; casements; Tudor-arched doorway under thatched canopy
on rustic posts, C20 planked door, two cross window with hoodmoulds
to right, 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement and pointed
lancet to first floor, gables with wavy barge boards. Left return
has C20 steel casement and cross window with hoodmould. Right
return has 1-light hollow-chamfered casement to left, gabled
projecting bay to centre has cross window to ground floor and 2-
light recessed chamfered mullioned casement with hoodmould to first
floor, wavy barge boards. Rear has flat-roofed C20 extension and
2-light casement to gabled dormer.
Interior not accessible at time of survey (June 1985). Situated
along the west drive to Longleat House, astride the County boundary
of Wiltshire and Somerset.
