GV II

Village school, now closed. Mid C19. Rubble stone, tiled roof,
brick stack. Small L-plan. Single storey. Projecting gabled
porch with planked door with strap hinges, in angle of 'L', to left
gable is 2-light pointed plate tracery window with hoodmould.
Right gable has 3-light pointed plate tracery window with
hoodmould, both gables with quatrefoils and coped verges and right
gable has decorated cross finial. Rear has one 3-light recessed
chamfered mullioned casement. Left return has pointed doorway and
external stack.
Interior not accessible at time of survey (July 1985), currently
undergoing conversion to dwelling. A good example of a simple
village school with Gothic and vernacular detail, on approach to
Church of St. Alfred the Great.
