4/243 Sutton Parva House


Detached house. Mid C18. Coursed rubble stone, tiled roof with
hip to right, brick stacks. 'L'-plan, 2-storey, 4-windowed;
casements. Door with 6 fielded panels to right of centre, 3-light
moulded recessed mullioned casement to right, two 3-light and one
2-light mullioned casements to left, the 2-light in blocked
doorway. Plat band to first floor; three 3-light mullioned
casements and one 2-light. Left return has 2-light casement and 9-
pane sashes in plain ashlar cases, external brick stack. Rear has
C20 casements and glazed door, rear wing with 2-light casements and
sashes in stone architraves with keystone. Interior not accessible
at time of survey (July 1985), but said to contain chamfered beams
and open fireplace with chamfered lintel on chamfered stone jambs.
Also said to be a rebuild of a timber-framed house. (V.C.H.,
Wiltshire, Vol 8, 1965).
