Two cottages, now one, in row. Circa 1700, altered C20. Painted
rubble stone and brick, partly rendered, concrete tiled roof,
formerly thatched, with stone and brick stacks. Two-storey, 5-
window. Planked door with 2-light casement under flat wooden hood
to right in C20 brick bay, two blocked openings to centre and two
2-light casements to rendered left hand bay, formerly timber-
framed. First floor has half dormer gable with 2-light casement
to left, 2-light leaded casement to right and two 2-light cyma-
mullioned casements to centre, C20 bay has wood mullioned casement
to match two stone ones. Rear has two half-glazed doors, 6-pane
sash, French windows and 2-light casement to ground floor, 4-light,
two 2-light casements and half dormer gable with casement to right,
C19 single-storey wing to right.
Interior has chamfered beam with stepped stops, large open
fireplace at east end with chamfered lintel with curved corners on
chamfered stone jambs. East 2 bays formerly timber-framed,
retaining part of one cross frame truss with square panels and
curved bracing, roof with straight wind bracing. Originated as
timber-framed cottage and rebuilt or extended to west in rubble
stone early C18, brick bay on west end added early C20.
