4/77 Milepost at south entrance to the
Hillside Cafe
Milepost. Circa 1840. Cast-iron classical pillar with pedimented
top and raised lettering to front: SALISBURY / 15 / WARMINSTER /
6, the lower half sunk into ground at time of survey (March 1987).
One of a series of cast iron mileposts and boundary posts on
turnpikes radiating from Warminster and made by Carson and Miller
the Warminster firm of ironfounders.
