11/17 No 2 (Court Lane Farmhouse)
Farmhouse, now detached house. Mid C17, extended late C18.
Square-panelled timber-framing with painted brick nogging, half-
hipped thatched roof with brick stacks. Baffle entry. Two-
storey, 3-window. Ledged and studded door to centre of C17 range,
3-light casement either side and 16-pane flush sash to C18 range to
left, segmental-headed opening to cellar left. First floor has two
3-light casements and 16-pane flush sash, eaves raised in brick in
C18. Right return has 2-light casement to ground floor. Left
return has external stack and lean-to extension. Rear has single-
storey lean-to extension to right with planked door and casements,
first floor partly tile-hung with fishscale tiles, C18 single-
storey wing with casements and pantiled roof to left.
Interior has deep chamfered beams with jewel and bar stops, open
fireplace with chamfered lintel on stone jambs, planked doors.
Stairs ascend from centre room, first floor has exposed timber-
framing of former external wall to south, two bay C17 roof timbers
retained below raised eaves of C18 roof. C18 drawing room to south
has original corner cupboard with fielded panelled doors and dentil
frieze. The timber-framing to front of this house is very similar
to that on Ivy Cottage, Lower Road (q.v.).
