Circa 1730 for John Cooper, a prominent clothier. The front is a stately palatial
composition but the interior has been considerably altered. 3 storeys and basement.
Ashlar stone with projecting plinth and rusticated angle piers. Moulded string
at 1st floor level. Enriched cornice with egg and dart moulding with slight breaks
in centre and at sides. Balustrade with moulded coping. Slate roof. 7 ranges
of windows, glazing bar sashes with architraves, eared on 2nd floor. Four 2nd
floor windows have carved aprons with good swag and cartouche enrichment alternating
with pediments of 1st floor windows. 1st floor windows long with cornice and aprons.
Centre and alternate windows pedimented with carved console brackets, centre triangular
sides segmental, and having ballustred aprons. Tall ground floor windows have brackets
to cills and brackets to band over, alternately short and long. Tall 8 panel double
central door in rusticated surround and doorcase of engaged Doric columns, frieze
with 'Trowbridge Branch' incised on it and cornice, radiating fanlight. Basement
area blocked. Small single storey later extension to left with draughted ashlar
and moulded architrave to doorway. Parapet over with fine carved cartouche in
central panel. Adjoining on left is wall with ramped cope and a doorway to path
leading to rear. Rear quarters altered since previous list and modernized.
Interior: fine reproduction Adam ceiling and panelling to main hall. 2 good doorcases
(at least I reproduction) with broken pediments. The bank counter has panels separated
by paired fluted colonettes.

Nos 61 to 64 (consec) and railings to No 64 form a group. No 64 and railings to
No 64 also forms a group with Nos 65 to 74 (consec)
