House and rear wing, now hotel. Late C18. Painted brick with
ashlar quoins and dressed stone returns, stone slate roof with
coped verges and ashlar stacks. No 26a is rear projecting wing of
No 28; 2-storey, one-window. Chamfered door case and 2-light cym-
mullioned windows to ground and first floors. No 28 has 2-storeys
and attic, 6-windowed symmetrical front. Central 8-panelled
Venetian doorway with fanlight in fine reeded arched case with
keystone and narrow sash side-lights in reeded cases, good cast-
iron boot-scraper to right of door. Either side is 16-pane sash in
beaded architrave. Plat band. First floor has five 12-pane sashes
in beaded architraves, plus one small later sash. Two large hipped
dormers to roof have 3-light beaded mullioned windows. Right
return has 3-light beaded mullioned window to ground and attic
floors. Left return and single storey rear wing has chamfered door
case with flat stone hood on brackets and cyma mullioned windows,
2-light beaded mullioned window to first floor.
Interior has round-arched openings and stone fireplace with staff
moulding and moulded cornice.
