ST 86 NE MELKSHAM WITHOUT BATH ROAD, SHAW
(east side)

House. Late C17. Rubblestone, stone slate roof with ashlar
stacks. 2 storeys, 3 windows. Central door has moulded
architrave. One 3-light ovolo moulded mullioned window to right
and to left are two 2-light splayed mullioned windows, one is
reused and inserted. Above door is one 2-light splayed mullion
with a 3-light ovolo and a 2-light splayed mullion either side.
Hood moulds and string course over ground floor appear to have been
altered. Right return gable has one-light above 2-light splayed
mullion and dovecote in gable. Rear of house has some C20
casements and skylights in the roof. Interior not inspected. At
time of survey (June 1984) house being renovated and roof replaced.
