6/165 Vagg's Hill Farm



Farmhouse, now detached house. Restored datestone on stack
inscribed P 1615 E, house restored mid C20. Rubble stone, stone
slate roof with coped verges and stone stacks. Two-storey, 3-
window. C20 glazed door with relieving arch to right of centre, 3-
light and 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements with hoodmould and
relieving arches to left and C20 three-light casement to right.
First floor has 3-light and 4-light mullioned casements with
relieving arches and hoodmoulds, latter with king mullion, 3-light
wood mullioned casement to right. Left return has 3-light ovolo-
mullioned casement to ground and first floors, 2-light mullioned
casement to attic, all with hoodmoulds, blocked vent over attic
window. Rear has central cylindrical projecting stair turret with
conical roof, single-light C20 casements, either side are good C20
doors, made of reused materials, 2-light mullioned casement to
right and 3-light C20 casement to left, first floor has 2-light
ovolo-mullioned casement to right and C20 leaded casement-to left.
Interior partly restored C20. Stair turret has winding stairs with
continuous newel. Chamfered beams with stepped stops, reused beam
in room to left of entrance and fine moulded Tudor-arched stone
fireplace with reeded console brackets to strapwork frieze, moulded
cornice. First floor has moulded fireplaces.
