4/200 Two unidentified monuments in the
churchyard, 3 and 12 metres north
of nave of Church of St James


GV II


Two chest tombs. Mid and late C18. Limestone. South one has high
raised circular panel with enriched egg and dart moulding on south
side, rectangular fielded panels to north and end panels,
pulvinated frieze with scrolled decoration and moulded flat top.
Partly illegible inscription with date 1739. Tomb to north is
partly sunken with two beaded panels, fielded pilasters with
rosettes and pulvinated frieze to flat top, shield-shaped panels on
north side. Illegible inscription.
