House at end of row. C18 with early Medieval work in basement.
Random rubble stone, artificial stone slate roof with stone stack
to left. Two-storey and attic over basement. Side facing street
has planked door to basement, pair of 12-pane sashes to ground and
first floors, C20 attic dormer. Left return with half-glazed door
with flat stone hood on brackets to ground floor, 2-light cyma-
mullioned casement with hoodmould to first floor, projecting
cylindrical bread oven to right of entrance door. C20 addition to
rear.
Interior of basement contains remarkable remains of possible early
C13 date; two depressed segmental arches on cylindrical pier with
moulded capping and damaged square abacus. Ground floor drawing
room has unusual bracketed stone shelf with apparently early C13
ornament, nailhead and scallops, shelf is approximately 30cm long
and must be reset in present position. Drawing room also has late
C18 beaded square fireplace surround with bread oven and semi-
circular headed-cupboard to left. It is suggested that the arches
in the basement represent the remains of an undercroft to a house
of early C13 date, although the feature is not yet fully exposed.
