6/278 Pomeroy Farmhouse and outbuilding



Farmhouse. Mid C17, altered early C19. Random rubble stone,
double Roman tiled roof with coped verge to left and brick and
stone stacks. Through passage to rear of stack. Two-storey, 3-
window. Early C19 large gabled porch with 4-panelled door, to
right of main range, pair of C19 twelve-pane sashes to right and
left. First floor has two 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements to
main range, 3-light mullioned casement with leaded lights and
hoodmould to first floor of cross wing and 2-light to attic over.
Left return has 2-light C19 first floor casement, evidence of
removal against gable end wall. Rear has planked door in C19
porch, 3-light ovolo-mullioned casement and planked door to left,
pair of sashes and single C19 light to right, first floor has 3-
light mullioned casement with truncated attic gable to left, single
ovolo-moulded light and 2-light and 3-light mullioned casements to
right, with hoodmoulds. Attached to right is rubble stone
outbuilding and 10-bay open-fronted shelter shed on square rubble
stone piers, double Roman tiled roof. Interior not accessible at
time of survey (July 1987), but said to have deep chamfered beams
with stepped stops, planked doors, open stone fireplace with
depressed Tudor-arched lintel in room to left of entrance.
