Farmhouse and barn. C17, altered and extended early C18 and later. Stone rubble
walls; stone slate roof to house, corrugated iron to barn; upper parts of stacks C20
brick. Primary, C17 building, has 2-unit plan, hall to left with gable fireplace
entry/service to right with opposed doors; now 2 storey attic, originally (from break
in south-cast quoin) probably single storey. Addition, to right, early C18, single
unit plan, gable fireplace and stair adjacent. Barn to left, early C18, altered C19
when part incorporated into house. To rear, C19 and C20 single storey additions.
Front windows 3-light, stone mullions with cyma moulding, hoodmoulds over, early C18;
single-hung sashes to centre lights. At first floor level, 3, symmetrically placed.
To ground floor, 1 to right of doorway, ranging with that above, with slightly
projecting apron under, extending to ground level; 1 to left in centre of hall.
Between them, to right of centre, main doorway, plan chamfered stone surround with
6-panel door (2 top panel glazed); adjacent, to left, small C19 single light casement
window in roll-moulded stair surround. Two gable stacks. Barn to left has large
central doorway with plain stable door to left. To right, plain chamfered doorway
with 6-panel door and 2-light stone mullion window to left, both C19, partly under a
hoodmould surviving from an early C18 2-light window; a complete arch survives,
blocked, at first floor level. The interior is largely gutted, but part of a C17
plank and muntin partition between the hall and cross-passage survives. At first
floor level in early C18 addition is a bolection-moulded chimney piece.
