3/52 White Gate House and
boundary walls


House. Early C19. Squared and coursed rubble with flush
rusticated dressed stone quoins, stone dressings and gabled stone
slate roof with end stone stacks. Two-storey and attic, 3-window
south front. Windows are 16-pane sashes set in deep reveals with
flush stone surrounds; 2 hipped dormers through eaves line with
small pane 2-light casements. Central panelled door with 4 glazed
lights and spoked fanlight. Kitchen extension to rear. Low
dressed stone boundary walls to south with square gate piers;
cambered copings and pier tops. Simple wrought iron gate painted
white from which, presumably, the house takes its name.
