II


Former farmhouse, now detached house. Late C17 with C19
alterations, 1938-9 restoration and additions by Thomas Rayson,
further 1980 addition by Brakspear. Squared and coursed rubble
with flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, timber lintels and
stone slate roofs with lateral end stone stacks. T-shaped plan
with north and south service wings to west-facing central block and
rear C20 range. West front with 2-storey and attic, 2-window
centre and lower 1-storey and 2-storey wings. Windows are 3-light
casements to ground and first floors of centre block, 2-light
casements under gables to attic. Small pane casements to left
wing, small leaded pane casements to right. Central gabled stone
slate porch on timber posts; part-glazed plank door.
Interior: central ground floor room has large inglenook fireplace
with chamfered jambs; several chamfered beams. Original butt-
purlin, collar-beam roof structure with plank partitions; several
C17 oak plank doors.
