7/33 Green Cottage

GV II

Pair of cottages, now one, c1850 probably by J. Thomson for J.
Neeld of Grittleton. Squared rubble stone with stone slate roofs
and four-shaft stack on main ridge. Two storeys, T-plan with wing
extending to south. Main range has east end 2-storey ashlar
triangular bay with 2-light windows and dripcourse. Bay faces out
over former drive from Grittleton House. Wing has south end 3-
light with hoodmould and blank circular panel in gable. Tall
outside west stack. In angle to east end of main range a gabled
projecting porch with shouldered head. C20 addition to left of
porch. West end wall of main range has dripcourse, 2-light to
first floor, 3-light below, both with hoodmoulds, and projecting
enclosed porch. Rear has one window range to left of centre, 3-
light below, 2-light in eaves dormer gable above.
