GRITTLETON THE STREET

House, late C17 origins, altered early C19, and linked in C20 to
converted c1850 range of stalls. House is rubble stone with stone
slate roof, end stacks and 3-window range, mostly of renewed
casements. Three 4-light casements above, ground floor two
casement pairs to left, triple casement, door in ashlar gabled
porch with depressed arch, and, to right, a 3-light cyma-moulded
recessed mullion window with hoodmould. East end is linked to
former stalls range, once part of Manor Farm (q.v.), running south
with hipped roof and west front of two garages to left and 4-bays
to right with circular stone piers and C20 walling with windows
set-back behind. Stalls are typical of the estate buildings of the
Grittleton estate.
