8/74 The Hit or Miss Inn

GV II


Inn, C17 extended in early C19, painted rubble stone with stone
slate roof, end stacks to original range and centre ridge stack to
east extension. Two storeys. Original, left, section is double-
fronted with two 3-light cyma-moulded flush stone mullion windows
of C18 type to each floor and central door in flush moulded
surround with hood on brackets. Right section is also double-
fronted with two triple casements each floor, with brick jambs and
timber lintels and two central doors with timber lintels.
Interior of original part has deep-chamfered beams with stepped
run-out stops.
