ST 88 SW (east side)

2/197 Chez Nous and The Porch


Farmhouse C17 to C18, rubble stone with stone slate roof, end stack
and ridge stack. Two storeys, four-window range, casement pairs
with timber lintels each side of door with timber lintel and C18
bead-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds in right bay, 3-light
below, 2-light above. Door is in squared rubble c1830-40 porch
with coped gable and depressed-arched entry. Triple-arched side
openings. l½ storey additions each end, to left with ground floor
casement pair, to right with garage doors. Design for porch, by
James Thomson, is in Thomson's unpublished 1845 History of Alderton
p 72.
