5/1 Carpenter's Farmhouse
II
House, C17 timber-frame origins, refronted in red brick and wholly
clad in C20 hanging concrete tiles. Stone slate roof. Two storeys
with 2 brick ridge stacks and east end stack. Main range has three
C20 casement pairs above, ground floor, three C20 triple casements
with doors to left and right of third window. Brick addition at
left end. Right end addition with lower roof, also tile-hung.
Interior: Lobby entry plan, winding stair with short length of C17
rail-square newel and one splat baluster. Chamfered and scroll
stopped centre beams to first floor, tie-beam and collar trusses to
double purlin 6-bay roof. West end gable, partly masked, is
timber-framed with two curved wind braces and remains of a three-
light timber-mullion window now internal.
