3/202 Bevis
House, C16, altered, timber-frame and painted brick with stone
slate roof and end stacks. Two storeys. Left side of front is
close-studded timber-frame in three tiers with rubble plinth and
rubble north end. Triple casement and casement pair above, paired
8-pane sashes and casement pair below. Centre and right side are
refaced in painted brick. Door with hood on brackets, then two
triple casements above, triangular bay window, blocked door and
casement pair below. Roughcast south end wall. Rear is red brick
on rubble stone plinth to left, with three first floor casement
pairs and one exposed wall-post. Roughcast rear wall to right with
one gabled dormer. North end wall has roughcast lean-to addition
with c1900 curved bay to front. In C18 two houses, Whitehouse to
left, bakery to right. c1910 to 1923 belonged to J.L. Osborne,
author of 'Some Villages of North Wilts'.
