II
Estate cottage and former forge, now one house, c1860, possibly on
earlier core, built for Poynder estate. Rubble stone, some render,
some decorative half-timber, Bridgwater tile eaves roofs. l 1/2
storeys. To left, former forge has rubble stone ground floor with
3-light mullion window to left, door and 2-light mullion window to
right, windows leaded with hoodmoulds, broad stable door.
Stonework probably pre-C19. Upper floor is rendered with two
gables each with casement pair. Slightly taller right section is
T-plan cottage with north stack, main gable to south, and large 2-
storey gabled projections to west and east. Rendered ground
floors, jettied half-timbered upper floors and gable finials. West
projection has canted angles to ground floor and 2-light leaded
window to front with Tudor-heads to lights. Curved brackets under
angles of upper floor which has small 4-pane sash. Tudor arched
door in south side wall. South end gable has framing to west side,
jettied and roughcast south gable, paired sashes to ground floor
and sash above.
