9/46 Field Farmhouse

Farmhouse, late C17 and early C18, rubble stone with stone tiled
roofs. One-and-a-half and two-and-a-half storeys. Range to left,
one-and-a-half storeys with west end wall stack, 2 paired dormer
gables with 2-light recessed cyma-moulded mullion windows and
hoodmoulds. Ground floor, 12-pane sashes in plain surround to left
of C20 door, similar pair to right, and projecting ashlar gabled
porch with Tudor arched entry and ball finial, dated 1861. To
right is south end wall of taller range, two-and-a-half storey with
half-hipped roof and west side chimney. C19 sashes to ground and
first floor of south end. East side wall has cornerstones
returned to straight joint with north and south ends and 3-light
chamfered mullion window. North end has original 2-light attic
window and 2-light chamfered mullion window with hoodmould to first
floor. To rear of lower range is projecting chimney gable with
attached 2 storey former hayloft with half-hipped north gable and
C20 mullion windows inserted.
Interior: In right side range a restored Tudor arched fireplace
with mantel, possibly late C17. House is on unnamed lane running
north from The Green.
