7/245 The Fox and Hounds P.H.


Inn, early C18, 1752 (dated) and early C19. Two ranges, C18 range
facing west and early C19 range facing north to High Street. West
range rubble stone with Bridgwater tile roof, coped gables, end
wall and ridge stacks. One and a half storeys, 2 dormer gables.
Left side gable with 3-light ovolo-moulded mullion window and
hoodmould, ground floor lean-to with broad 8-pane window, 2-light
flush cyma-moulded window to right and central door in stone slab
porch. Right side has coped dormer gable with saddlestone, dated
J. T. 1752 and dripstone over former 3-light flush cyma-moulded
window, mullions removed for casements. Pair of 12-pane sashes in
unmoulded flush surrounds below. Flat-roofed C20 south end
addition. North range is ashlar with low pitched slate roof,
raised plinth, platband and eaves band, 2-storeys, 2-window range
of 16-pane sashes. Door to right.
Interior: large fireplace with timber lintel to original range,
left of entry and moulded C18 corner fireplace to south end.
