13/183 No. 113 (Ockwells Glove Factory)

Town hall, 1861, replacing C16 raised town hall in centre of High
Street. Now Glove factory. Squared limestone rubble, Welsh slate
roof. Two storeys, 3 bays. Central arched carriage entrance with
4-panel gates folding back into wall rebates. To left, shop window
with central entrance and cornice, and glazed central door. To
right and above rendered plat band, 20-pane sash windows. Boxed
eaves and central statue of Ceres and datestone 1861. Ashlar gable
stacks. Figure is reputed to come from the Great Exhibition of
