SU 09 SE THE LEIGH -

4/220 Leigh Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C17. Limestone rubble, stone slate roof. Some
concrete slates to rear. Two-storeys and attic, 3 bays with
central 2-bay rear wing. Lobby entry plan with off-centre 6-
panelled door to lobby. Stair to rear of double stack in rear
projection. Sixteen and 20-pane sashes, being replaced May 1985.
Roof half hipped. Rear wing also 2-storeys contemporary with front
block. Further later C17 extension, probably originally dairy.
Rear wing has some ovolo stone mullioned windows.
Interior left room has C16 moulded ceiling beams and chamfered
joists, reset from elsewhere in C17. Central bay has stone
fireplace with depressed arch. Spiral stair. Roof with 4 trusses
and tenoned purlins.
