Mid to later C18. Formerly 2 separate houses one on Bedidn Street, the other
facing Green Croft, joined with staircase set between later C18. The block
to Bedwin Street is of 2 storeys and attic, colourwashed brick, raised plinth
and stringcourse. Moulded wood eaves cornice. Steep pitch gable end old
tile roof. 2 hipped dormers (originally 4, the 2 left hand now forming modern
attic light). Symmetrical front of 3 windows, outer ones tripartite, sashes
glazing bars intact. Central door of 6 panels. Doorcase of reeded pilasters,
good flat scroll brackets supporting broken dentil cornice and open pediment.
Wreath and swag decoration with oval rosette in tympanum.
The elevation to Gree Croft is generally similar in fenestration but the
former separate house has an extra storey with modillion cornice. Raised
new slate mansard roof. Band between storeys. 2 windows in flush architrave
frames with keystones. Window lighting staircase in link between the 2 parts.
Interior has some original mantlepieces and good staircase of delicate turned
balusters, moulded string and handrail.

Nos 54 to 60 (even) form a group.
