CATHERINE STREET (West Side) No 38

GII*
Early C19 front concealing C16 timber frame. Three storeys red brick, painted stucco band between storeys. Stuccoed frieze, projecting plain, leaded, wood cornice, stucco parapet with coping. Two windows to upper floors, recessed sashes, no glazing bars, segmental brick arches, later metal window boxes. Early C20 shop front. Interior: to rear a six bay range extending to west, exposed frame on first floor with wall posts, tie beams, trusses, principals and collars. East end remains of cross range. Nos 26 to 40 (even) and Nos 46 to 54 (even) form a group.
