Circa 1800, possibly by James Wyatt. Apparently used to house some of the
workforce engaged on his alterations to Wilton House. 3 storeys. Gault
brick on round-top projecting plinth, flat eaves, hipped slate roof.
South-west front of 3 bays. 2 square windows flanking semi-circular central
window on 2nd floor. Two 3-pane windows with deep segmental hoods and radiating
glazing flanking similar 5-pane central window on 1st floor. 2 similar
5-pane windows on ground floor flanking 8-panelled door with false radiating
fanlight over, under deep porch of 2 Doric columns; 2 wall pilasters supporting
broken frieze and dentil cornice and curved dentil pediment roof, panelled
reveals.
South-east front of 2 bays with square windows on 2nd floor, 3-pane segmental
radiating windows on 1st floor and 5-pane similar windows on ground floor.
Later wing with modern ground floor extension to north-west. Tall later
2 storey extension to rear.
Interior altered but retains urn friezes to ceilings, contemporary staircase
with curled rail on bottom step and an Adam-style fireplace in the lounge
bar.
