(North-West Side)
Water Trough
SU 13 SW 1/78

Dated 1901. Very wide circular moulded stone trough with water holding
base. Central barley sugar column with Corinthian capital. Lion's head
water spout now facing north. Inscribed on outer rim:

"This fountain is given by Gertrude Countess of Pembroke in memory of
happy days in Wilton trusting that it will be a comfort to all passers
by and thirsty animals A.D. 1901".
