Mid C18. Ordered by 9th ("architect") Earl of Pembroke to be built "after
the Roman fashion" of large rubble blocks with wide brick bands and weathered
stone capping (now moss covered). They enclose Wilton Park to south and
west. Various gates to south. One has weathered arch over with 3 ogee
capped acroteria (to east of Home Farm). In wall to west of this 2 dated
bricks "W H 1799" and "J E 1729 (or 1724)".
