5/8 Yew Tree Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Circa 1840. Flemish bond brick, Welsh slate hipped roof,
brick end stacks. 2 storeys, 3 windows. Door in central
castellated porch with hood mould. Cast iron casements either side
of door have hood moulds and flat arches in brick. First floor
has cast iron casements either side of central circular window with
cast iron glazing bars. Toothed brick cornice and deep eaves.
Returns have no windows. Included as a well-designed example of an
estate cottage in this village, compare with Cherry Tree Cottage
(q.v.). Old Road.
