4/78 Homington House


Detached house. Early C19 with west wing added late C19 and
matching east wing of c1930. Painted Flemish bond brick,
ornamental tiled roof, brick stacks. L-plan. 2-storey, 4-window
front. 6-panelled door to left of centre has segmental hood on
carved brackets and grooved pilasters. Either side is round-
arched sash, to left is 2-light casement with segmental head, to
right are two small fixed windows, the right one with a moulded
lion's head over the round arch, to left is half-glazed door.
First floor has two 2-brick plat bands in bullnose bricks, two 16-
pane sashes and casement to left, one round-arched sash to right.
Right return is garden front with flanking projecting wings with
half-hipped roofs, each with two 24-pane sashes with moulded lion's
heads over to ground floor, centre 3 bays with half-glazed door
with C20 pediment to centre, and 24-pane sash either side. First
floor has two 2-brick bullnose brick bands, Venetian-style
casements to wings, with lion's heads over, two 12-pane sashes to
centre. Attics of wings each have round-arched niche. Attached to
right is flat-roofed C20 garden-room. Left return has lean-to
ground floor with casements. Rear has half-glazed door to centre
with 3-light casements to ground floor and sashes and casements to
first floor.
Interior has original fittings including newel stairs in early C19
