6/86 Little Hawksgrove

II

Detached cottage. Mid-C17. Square-panelled timber-framing with
straight bracing and brick infill, hipped thatched roof with brick
axial stack. Entrance is to rear, formerly a two-room baffle entry
plan. One storey and attic, 2-window entrance front. Doors to
right and left are not in original positions; blocked central door,
windows to ground floor are 2-light diamond-leaded casements. Two
diamond-leaded casements in eye-brow dormers. Right return has
weather-boarding to first floor, one casement to ground floor and
first floors. Rear facing road has one storey and attic; two
diamond-leaded casements to ground floor and one to attic dormer.
To right is thatched lean-to extension with timber-framing of
c1700.
Interior: Central back-to-back fireplaces are C20 rebuilds of
original fireplaces, winding stairs are to north of fireplace.
Chamfered beams with stops to ground floor. First floor has
planked doors. 2-bay roof has tie-beam with raking struts to
