1/116 Model farm buildings at Avon Farm

GV II

Model farm buildings. Late C19. Flemish bond yellow brick with
some English bond to north range, Welsh slate roofs and brick
stacks with gauged brick capping. E-plan; cart sheds and
machinery stores on outside of north range, feed stores and
cowsheds face onto two yards. Single storey with attics. West
range has Tudor-arched doorways and flat arched windows with cast-
iron Gothic glazing bars, hipped dormer to roof and pyramidal roof
vent with shouldered louvres. North range has four large Tudor-
arched cart entries and open-fronted barn and cart shed to north
side; 3 gablets with cusped vents to roof. South side of north
range has covered passage with slate roof linking doors facing
yards. Middle range has C20 milking parlour, partly inserted into
open-fronted shelter shed. East range has stable doors and flat-
arched windows with cast-iron Gothic glazing bars to horizontal
sashes with alternate glazed lights, outer facade of range is
windowless with recessed panels in Flemish bond.
Interior has stone floors and planked doors. A good, little
altered example of a model farm in the Salisbury area.
