south of Longford Castle (q.v.)


GV II

Parterre walls. 1832. Buff brick with stone coping and ball
finials. Dwarf walls with open parapet, weathered coping and ball
finials, enclose rectangular garden with oval south end, about 100
metres long. Part of reorganisation of south gardens by 3rd Earl
of Radnor in 1832, many pieces of sculpture from C18 gardens were
collected into the area of the parterre at this time, such as
Rysbrack's Fame (q.v.) and six mythological terms by Sefferin Alkin
c1759.
