Detached cottage. Circa 1600, with C18 addition. Timber-framed
with English bond brick to south wall and west bay, thatched roof
gable-end brick stacks. Gable-end to road, 2 bays of c.1600, third
bay added to west. One storey and attic, 2 windows. C20 door on
south side, two 2-light and one 3-light metal casements, two
eyebrow dormers with 2-light casements. Left return is gable-end
to road with C20 external stack and C20 casement. Rear retains
square-panelled timber-framing, C20 metal casements. To east end
is late C19 single-storey extension with half-hipped tiled roof.
Interior has chamfered beams with fine vase-shaped stops, supported
on chamfered wall post, chamfered joists in east room, open
fireplace with chamfered lintel with concave stops, C18 planked
doors. 2-bay roof of c.1600 has tie-beam braced to jowled main
posts, with queen struts to collar and clasped purlins, wind
bracing. Continues to be occupied by Longford Estate's water
keeper.
