Farmhouse. C15 hall house, C16 and C17 alterations, refaced c1750.
Flemish bond brick, Welsh slate roof, brick axial stack. 4-bay,
baffle-entry. Single-storey and attic, 3-windows. Central C20
door, two C20 casements either side. Three late C19 gabled dormers
to steeply-pitched half-hipped roof, slated c1900. Right return
has C20 bay window. Left return has 2-light casements and gabled
dormer. Rear has C20 French windows and casements, late C20
addition to left.
Interior has reused C17 chamfered beams with jewel stops, open
fireplace to central stack has chamfered lintel with jewel stops.
4-bay roof has base crucks, cut off below plate level, wind
bracing; all smoke-blackened, wider hall bay between second and
third trusses. C15 hall house open to roof, floors inserted C16
for solar and over hall c1700. Timber-framed walls refaced c1750
in brick, and crucks cut to allow for brickwork. Divided into two
cottages C18, reverting to one early C19. Internal layout altered,
and refenestrated after 1975.
