Farmhouse. C15, C17 alterations, C18 and C19 refronting. Rendered
brick, Welsh slate roof, brick axial stack. 3-bay cruck house,
formerly with 2-bay open hall. 2-storey, 5-window. 4-panelled
door to left in gabled porch, two 3-light casements, blocked door
and two 2-light casements. First floor has plat band, five 2-light
casements. Right return has lean-to extension. Rear has planked
doors, 2-light casements and 3-light fixed window with arched
lights, single-storey extension.
Interior has three surviving base crucks, smoke-blackened timbers
over former open hall. C17 open fireplace with chamfered lintel,
deep chamfered cross beams with runout stops to inserted floor over
hall, matching chamfered wall plates. Stairs in original position
on west side of central stack. Planked doors. Screens passage was
at north end of hall. House divided into two cottages in C19 and
refenestrated and rendered c1870. Undergoing renovation by
Hamptworth Estate at time of survey (January 1985).
