Templeman's Old Farmhouse
Farmhouse, now detached house. Late C17, additions of early C18
and c1870. English bond brick with C19 build in stretcher bond,
tiled roof and Welsh slates to C19 build, brick stacks. Three
parallel ranges. 2-storey, 3-window symmetrical front of c1870.
Door with two vertical panels, reveals and fanlight with pilastered
surround in recessed central bay, either side is bay with 12-pane
sash. First floor has 20-pane sash over door and to either side;
all with flat arches. Gabled flanking bays have carved
bargeboards. Right return has sashes to C19 build, earlier builds
have sashes and various casements and C20 windows, same bargeboards
as front. C18 range to right has rebuilt wall with lozenge diapers
in vitrifed brick. Left return has sashes to front build, earlier
builds have sashes and C18 range to left has 3-light cast-iron
casement and C20 door in porch.
Interior: C17 range has timber-framed partitions, chamfered beams
with runout stops or step and concave stops, planked doors. East
and north walls have exposed timber-framing on inside, faced in
brick C18. 7-bay roof with butt purlins. C19 build has moulded
ceiling cornices, 4-panelled doors, marble fireplace with reeded
surround with paterae in east room, classical wooden fireplace in
west room. 1870s build for William Taunton. (Unpublished records
