3/75 Box Hedge Cottage
II

Cottage. C17 and C18. Timber framed with brick noggings, extended
in brick. Thatched roof. Single storey and attic, original
structure of 2 bays, lobby entry plan, extended to left in C18 as
single storey single bay, and raised in C20 to 2 storeys. One
added bay on left, with lean-to to front, C20. Framing 3.panels
high with corner braces. C20 boarded door in left framed bay
opposite stack. C19 timber casement windows, but one leaded and
one diamond pattern cast iron window in right extension. Three
flush dormers, and half-round dormer in left bay. Roof steeply
hipped to right.
Interior: North east bay with fireplace and oven, and original
stair to rear of stack. Right bay originally open to roof,
unheated, stack added later. Important as illustration of the
development of the lobby entry plan.
