6/9 The Manse



House, at street corner. Late C18 or early C19. Scribed cement rendering to
front and left gable, limestone rubble back and right gable, Welsh slate roof.
Long narrow plan, backed on to Balcony Cottage in The Square (q.v.). Two
storeys and attic, 4 windows, all 12-pane sash with moulded architraves, but
ground floor left is without window; between windows 2 and 4 a 6-panel part-
glazed door under a flat stone hood with moulded edge, on curved consoles. Left
gable has 9 over 12 over 16-pane sashes and a C19 panelled door, left; right
return a small casement to attic, 16-pane casement to outshot, a 3-light case-
ment low right and a pair of C20 French doors. Coped gables with late C20 brick
stacks and late C19 terminals. The Manse seems formerly to have incorporated
part of what is now Balcony Cottage. Interior not inspected.
