GV II

Barn. Mid to late C18. Timber frame, unbraced, weather boarded or rubble
plinth wall, some brick noggin at end nearest farmhouse, Welsh slate roof. A
long building to half-hipped ends and two hipped cart entries set symmetrically
on west front; paired plank doors opposed to paired doors set flush on east
side. Lean to additions not of special interest. Eight bays with tie beams to
jowelled posts, two purlins, diagonal ridge, many original rafters. At south
end exterior brick nogged two bays have full height brick partition internally
set just to south of the truss, and a floor inserted. At the time of survey
(July 1986) the centre of the barn filled with hay and interior details con-
cealed. Part of Mere Park, a property of the Duchy of Cornwall. Groups with
the Granary (qv) to its west.
