1/173 Nos 1 and 2 Manor Cottages
with attached coach house

GV II

Semi-detached cottages with attached coach house to rear. C18,
rebuilt early C19. Rubble stone, tiled hipped roofs, central
ashlar stack. Cottages are gable-end to road, barn at right angles
to them. Two-storey, 2-window south front. Half-glazed door in
Tudor-arched doorway with 3-light transom light over, to left and
right is 3-light flush mullioned window in cyma-moulded surround,
to left is 2-light mullioned window. First floor has plat band and
two 3-light flush mullioned windows with cyma-moulded surrounds.
Right return has two 3-light mullioned windows to ground and first
floors, external stack and battlemented blocking course, facing
Teffont Manor (q.v.). Left return has C20 planked door in glazed
conservatory, 3-light mullioned window to first floor. Rear has
moulded square-headed doorway with 6-panelled door, 3-light
mullioned window to either side, C20 door to left, first floor has
plat band and C20 steel window and blocked windows. Interior not
inspected. Attached coach house has three recessed hollow-
chamfered windows to south gable, west side facing road has planked
door, pivot-hung window, casement and single recessed chamfered
light. Rear has two tall recessed hollow-chamfered 2-light
windows, chamfered round-arched carriage door and planked double
doors to right. Interior not inspected. Part of the Teffont
Manor estate, rebuilt by John Mayne in 1820s.
