2/16 The Old Cottage

GV II

Detached cottage. C17. Painted dressed limestone, thatched roof
with half hip to left and hip to right, axial brick stack. Baffle
entry plan. Single storey and attic, 2 windows. Planked door
with thatched porch on posts to left of centre, 3-light casement to
left, large C19 two-light casement and smaller 2-light casement to
right. Two eyebrow dormers with 2-light and 3-light casements.
Left return has 3-light casement and 2-light casement in blocked
doorway, two 2-light casements to first floor. Rear has C20 two-
storey and single-storey extensions. Interior not accessible at
time of survey (February 1986) but said to have open fireplace and
chamfered beams.
